Folly 2
A penthouse roof extension to form a new open plan living space with sun terrace
Status: Concept
Location: London
Category: Rooftop
A new rooftop structure proposed to a period building to provide flexible living area and solar-orientated outdoor amenity.
The plan was orientated to best capture morning light to the interior, and afternoon light to the terrace area. The roof form angles and undulates with this orientation, responding to surrounding massing and key views from the street below.
Expansive glazed doors allows the interior to be entirely opened to the outside. The L-shaped configuration allows an open plan layout with the future option for internal partitioning, so that the space responds to current and future requirements.
MODULAR COMPONENTS
The structure is designed to a modular grid to regulate structural components and to facilitate buildability given the central London rooftop location.
